About the authors: We met in Sept. 1946 at, and graduated from, Berea College, a work-study college near Lexington, KY (FP, BA 1949, English; BJP, B.A History, 1950). We were married June 12, 1950. FP completed his MS in LS at the U of Illinois, Urbana, graduate Library School (Aug. 1950). We then taught at Ferrum College (then a work-study junior college), 35 miles south of Roanoke, Va., Sept. 1950-June 1952.
Continuing graduate study, we attended George Peabody College for Teachers (GPCFT), adjoining Vanderbilt U in Nashville, TN (renamed July 1979 Peabody College of Vanderbilt university), summers of 1951 and '52, remaining four years, combining part-time jobs while taking Peabody and Vanderbilt graduate classes leading to BJP's M.S., English; and FP's Ed.D. in Social Foundations of Education, both in Aug. 1956.
Graduate study at GPCFT resulted in FP' dissertation, "George Peabody (1795-1869), Founder of Modern Educational Philanthropy," later revised and published by Vanderbilt University Press, 1971, rev. 1995, as George Peabody, a Biography, plus many GP articles, some of them listed below. 2-
Franklin Parker taught 1-history and philosophy of education, and 2-international and comparative education courses at SUNY, New Paltz: 1956-57; Universitu of Texas, Austin: 1957-64 Univ. of Oklahoma, Norman: 1964-68; West Va. Univ., Morgantown: 1968-86; Northern Ariz. Univ., Flagstaff: 1986-89; Western Carolina Univ., Cullowhee, 1989-94.
Betty Parker taught English in high school and college and worked with the American Friends Service Committee. The Parkers are a research and writing team, some of whose books and articles, are based on overseas research in England, China, Zambia, South Africa, Russia, and other countries.

About the authors: We met in Sept. 1946 at, and graduated from, Berea College, a work-study college near Lexington, KY (FP, BA 1949, English; BJP, B.A History, 1950). We were married June 12, 1950. FP completed his MS in LS at the U of Illinois, Urbana, graduate Library School (Aug. 1950). We then taught at Ferrum College (then a work-study junior college), 35 miles south of Roanoke, Va., Sept. 1950-June 1952.
Continuing graduate study, we attended George Peabody College for Teachers (GPCFT), adjoining Vanderbilt U in Nashville, TN (renamed July 1979 Peabody College of Vanderbilt university), summers of 1951 and '52, remaining four years, combining part-time jobs while taking Peabody and Vanderbilt graduate classes leading to BJP's M.S., English; and FP's Ed.D. in Social Foundations of Education, both in Aug. 1956.
Graduate study at GPCFT resulted in FP' dissertation, "George Peabody (1795-1869), Founder of Modern Educational Philanthropy," later revised and published by Vanderbilt University Press, 1971, rev. 1995, as George Peabody, a Biography, plus many GP articles, some of them listed below. 2-
Franklin Parker taught 1-history and philosophy of education, and 2-international and comparative education courses at SUNY, New Paltz: 1956-57; Universitu of Texas, Austin: 1957-64 Univ. of Oklahoma, Norman: 1964-68; West Va. Univ., Morgantown: 1968-86; Northern Ariz. Univ., Flagstaff: 1986-89; Western Carolina Univ., Cullowhee, 1989-94.
Betty Parker taught English in high school and college and worked with the American Friends Service Committee. The Parkers are a research and writing team, some of whose books and articles, are based on overseas research in England, China, Zambia, South Africa, Russia, and other countries.
